Who writes this
Anonymous. Remote. 12 years deep.
This is the remote work reality check nobody writes.
I have been fully remote for 12 years. Five companies. Thirteen countries. Every time zone. I have made every mistake there is to make and figured out what actually works.
I am not going to tell you my name or where I work. I still work remotely, and my employer does not know I write about the internal dynamics of remote teams. The politics, the visibility traps, the promotion gaps, none of this is supposed to be discussed publicly.
I am making it public anyway.
Most remote work advice is written by people selling remote work as a lifestyle. I am not selling anything. I am documenting reality: what works, what does not, and what nobody tells you until you have already made the mistake.
Remote work is not working from a beach with a laptop. It is a fundamentally different way of building a career, and it requires strategies that office workers never need to think about.
The remote work playbook nobody writes because they are still living it. Now you have it.
